I was thinking about changing my blog to a vlog since video editing seems more fun and I know I personally enjoy watching endless good videos on YouTube n such. So if I have any followers that were interested in these art projects of mine I just wanted to post this so they can be aware of why there wasn’t any new posts. I consider video editing an art form and making good video edits is like drawing or building something. Basically my plan was to start from my very first blog post and work my way upwards to present time. Of course some posts I might skip but for the most part I will capture the highlights into video stories or reviews. I think I will do a vlog style video thing for just about everything on here using all of these blog entries as templates or video outlines. I even plan to do a vlog on the Monastery post I made that seemed to get a lot of interest. So to anyone who reads this stuff check out my soon-to-be blogs on my current YouTube channel which is titled, you guessed it: “West Seattle King” and I will try to attach links to each blog entry in here as well. Lil Debbie Live @High Dive 5/17/19

I first heard of her stumbling across a picture of her show/event page on social media. I was curious if the notorious treats had a spokesperson. However she is not even close to the small snacks you are use to, this chick is the real deal. She is a rapper coming straight out of Oakland California and her lyrics are on point, the message is clear, she has the look, the confidence and the passion for music. So think twice about who you expect to be on stage rap’n to the beat because it’s 2019 mutherfuckers and talent is talent. So now that we got that out of the way, this chick came out in her cute braided hair, skirt with tennis shoes and kept the whole crowd moving. The venue High Dive in Fremont Seattle is a very small venue which I was surprised to see her at but great place for live music. Her vocals were clear and even though I only watched one single music video prior to her show I was feeling all of her songs at the live show. She raps about being herself and living life how she wants to live it. She is about her women and not taking shit from assholes. I can dig it and if you have never been to the areas of California where people like her live concrete jungle life then you just don’t know. Check this chick out as she is a great performer as well as fun to watch. Lil Debbie has my vote.

Damian Marley Live @Neptune 9/27/17

Great show with plenty of hits after hits. This is a cool venue located in the North Seattle area with most every space a good place to watch inside. There is a wall in the way in the very back center but ain’t no thang to walk around. I waited the whole show to hear Jamrock so I could get rowdy as fuck when the dude waved the Jamaican flag on stage. Damian also did a couple Bob Marley covers that sounded perfect. The most notable story of this show was that a real live baby was born in the women’s bathroom. This is not a joke and I repeat; a real live baby was born in the bathroom during this show. Go ahead, google that shit.

Devin the Dude Live @Nectar 4/6/18

This is a good venue in North Seattle area located on a strip of places to eat and drink. Devin the Dude to me is a artist someone would listen to when they are smoking a fatty or a bong in their parents basement back in the day. My rap CDs back then had more power in it than some Devin the Dude vibes…however, he was really good live and actually brought in new interest to other songs that I hadn’t even remembered of his. For sure one of those performers where they are almost better live than on your radio so check him out.

Vanilla Ice Live @Marymoor 6/30/18

Part of their “I love the 90s” Tour, Vanilla Ice headlined this show with his classic tracks. You might think because he only had a handful of hits that he can’t rock a stage but you would be wrong. Ice reminded us of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and their importance to the 90’s kids while segued into the song. Tons of life on stage as he invited all of the front row up there with him to move to his most popular song “Ice Ice Baby” which he nailed it like it was his own, because it is. For sure worth it to watch him live just to hear that classic live right front of you.

Salt N Pepa Live @Marymoor 6/30/18

This was the ‘I love the 90’s tour” with other special guests I will mention in later blogs. Salt n Pepa was out in full force including DJ Spinderella seen here. These hall of fame ladies still got it. Looking good and sounding good. The way they danced on stage you’d think twice about racing one of them in track. So much energy and sound. This venue is large with a grass area for general admission in back and front area with folding chairs to sit up close. That’s if you were sitting which you couldn’t once they get on stage. Well worth the money to see.

This voice will change your life. This venue is a historical spot in the North Seattle area and the show itself was a reunion of surviving members of my all time favorite Seattle rock group Mother Love Bone. No matter what you were there for, you couldn’t take any focus off this stage once she approached the air with her voice. She covered a couple of MLB songs and her opener song of Bone China cover will send chills into you and your children’s children for generations to come. I felt so ashamed that her voice actually sounded slightly better than the original and I felt in my heart Andy Wood heard me think that. She is a blend of raspy calculated lethal vocal cords. Ones that probably need a permit for. That’s how powerful she is on the Mic. Om Johari, founder of the Hells Belles an all female AC/DC cover band is the one to look for. She spends more time promoting other artists as well as different roles outside of singing in the Seattle music scene but if you ever get a chance to have her blow out your ear drums into awesome pieces of pleasure…do it…don’t even thank me because I already know.
