Dj Quik Live @Nectar 12/6/19

Nectar is located in north Seattle in the Fremont area, very easy to get to and parking isn’t too bad near Fremont studios. This is one of my favorite venues, smaller and intimate. Outdoor area with heated lamps and lower main stage with dance floor. Then upstairs is the VIP area with a small bar, couches and bar top tables etc. Great view of the stage as seen here. I have seen Dj Quik live many times and he is always on point. He delivered the classics including played an old Prince track while he DJ’ed briefly on stage. He was up there with Hi-C doing collaborations with him keeping all the energy alive. One thing that sort of bothers me is some rap shows they have too many openers or wait too long to come on. I think Quik didn’t come on till about midnight and by then everyone is hammered trying to make out the songs. I think 1 opener is fine for shows and ending a bit early gives everyone a chance to hit some spots after the show. Either way still worth seeing and would check him out again if he is ever in Seattle again.

Vanilla Ice Live @Marymoor 6/30/18

Part of their “I love the 90s” Tour, Vanilla Ice headlined this show with his classic tracks. You might think because he only had a handful of hits that he can’t rock a stage but you would be wrong. Ice reminded us of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and their importance to the 90’s kids while segued into the song. Tons of life on stage as he invited all of the front row up there with him to move to his most popular song “Ice Ice Baby” which he nailed it like it was his own, because it is. For sure worth it to watch him live just to hear that classic live right front of you.

Bone Thugs n Harmony Live @Paramount 11/14/16

As mentioned this is one of my favorite venues and a historic landmark for Seattle. I went to see this for the Puff Puff pass tour which also Snoop Dogg & Warren G were on the line up. I felt like Snoop was extra lame sauce constantly pointing the Mic towards the crowd to sing his lyrics, like damn muthafucker sing your own shit dude. Warren G I couldn’t tell if he was lip syncing the entire time and you could tell he just wanted that check. However Bone Thugs murdered the stage. Voices sounded as you remembered with every member jumping into their position on tracks with all the hype and energy like they did through the 90’s. They had the look and stage presence to back up their vocals and the message they were re-sending to the audience. I went on to see them a few other times after this show at different venues and every time Bone Thugs N Harmony delivers the damn mail in their performance so be sure to see them when you can.
