Shawn Smith Live @Neptune 5/5/18

RIP to this talented singer Shawn Smith. This was Live at the Neptune theater located in North Seattle known for it’s historical attributes. This was a Mother Love Bone reunion show with surviving members as well as other artists like Om Johari and several others. Seen in the picture is Shawn doing a MLB cover of Chloe Dancer which is the extended version of the song “Crown of Thorns” and also a very special song to me for a variety of reasons. He came in strong with his intro to the song as well as hit the high notes like the late Andy Wood did making this cover echo through the Neptune Beautifully as people chanted the lyrics with him. So many powerful lyrics in this song but “I used to treat you like a lady, now you are a substitute teacher” and the way both Shawn and Andy Wood sang this they would carry the end of words to add a special touch. When you hear “teacher” , it would be said -teach-airrrrr…beautiful style. Glad to have heard and seen this voice while he was on this Earth.
